Job Title: Laboratory Assistant
Reports to: Laboratory Manager
Department: ENV - Microbiology
Location: Burnaby, B.C.
Full-Time
Contract: March 30 2026 - April 30 2027
Basic Purpose:
Perform sample preparation and provide general laboratory support
Key Accountability/Responsibilities:
- Prepare samples for analysis
- Keep detailed records as required
- Dispose of waste and general laboratory clean-up as needed
- Monitor and maintain adequate supplies
- All other responsibilities as assigned
Skills and Knowledge:
- Adheres to Bureau Veritas’ Code of Ethics Policy
- High School diploma
- Ability to perform simple calculations
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Accurately follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and instructions
- Positive outlook with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Good time-management, communication, multi-tasking and priority setting skills
- Adapt to a changing environment
- Work both independently and as part of a team
- Team and customer service oriented
- Detail oriented with accurate record keeping skills
- Learn quickly
Working Conditions:
- High level of work production in fast-paced lab environment. Can involve the repetition of the same process. Requires patience, tenacity and persistence
- The job requires flexible working hours, overtime and shift work
- May involve long periods of standing
- Some lifting and carrying (up to 40 lbs)
- Hazardous materials are handled using established safety procedures and appropriate equipment
Bureau Veritas is proud to be committed to providing fair and competitive pay. The salary range for this role is $19.23-$20.36 Pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location.
