Position Summary

Are you passionate about empowering students to overcome personal and systemic barriers to achieve their full potential?

Queen Elizabeth High School is seeking a dedicated and experienced School Based Wellness Coach to be a critical resource for our students’ holistic wellbeing. The position works closely with school leadership to provide targeted social, emotional and inter/intrapersonal support for students experiencing a variety of stressors.

The successful candidate will be a key influence to building strong student-community relationships, facilitating critical mental health support, and ensuring every student is equipped with the social skills, coping strategies, and sense of belonging necessary for academic success.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • provide immediate support for students identified as at-risk or in need of crisis intervention

  • coach and guide students in developing essential life skills, including emotional regulation, boundary setting, assertiveness, and healthy relationship dynamics

  • facilitate peer mediation and guide students through conflict to encourage positive social interactions

  • establish and maintain strong, trusting relationships with students and families to support academic and personal goals

  • support the Black Students Association (BSA) including planning for cultural events like Black History Month

  • cultivate community and cultural partnerships to connect students with essential external resources collaborate effectively with school staff to promote a safe, inclusive environment and address student attendance and behavioral concerns

Education/Qualifications

  • a diploma in Social Work, Counselling or a related field

  • a minimum of three years related experience working with adolescents in a setting focused on mental health and youth development

  • proven expertise in relationship-building, risk assessment, and group facilitation verbal proficiency in Somali, Arabic, or other African languages is a valuable asset

Rate of Pay

$34.79 - $44.34 per hour
