Permanent Part Time**–**Custodian
Horace Allen School**, Coleman, Alberta**
Livingstone Range School Division is accepting applications for a Part-Time Permanent Custodian (4 hours per day) at Horace Allen School located in Coleman, AB. ?Shift is from 3 pm to 7 pm Monday to Friday, with the possibility of more hours in the evening or on weekends based on need.
The applicant must be able to communicate and interact positively with the public, co-workers, staff, and administration to ensure all needs are addressed at the site. ?
Custodial work may include physical demands, e.g., lifting chairs, moving furniture or boxes of materials, cleaning equipment, and climbing stairs/ladders. The daily work routine involves the use of various chemicals. This position will report to the Health & Safety Coordinator and the School Administrator.
Typical duties of a Custodian include but are not limited to:
- Cleaning thoroughly washrooms, fixtures, and partitions
- Washing all desks, counters, doors, walls, windows, etc.
- Dusting in the school
- Mopping, vacuuming, polishing, and waxing floors
- Using and maintaining janitorial equipment
- Securing of Division buildings
- Garbage collection and removal
- Preventative maintenance – tightening furniture or changing light bulbs
- Snow and ice removal from walkways
The ability to work independently and secure the facilities is essential.
Requirements
Mandatory Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or equivalent
Additional Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills
- Demonstrated initiative and good judgement
- Ability to build positive relations with staff that values a team environment
- Capable of working alone and with minimum supervision
- Organize work and adjust daily routine, as conditions require
- Capable of performing routine and repetitive tasks daily
- Display a good working knowledge of all chemicals/procedures used by caretaking staff
Fitness and Abilities
- Able to stand or walk for extended periods
- Able to lift and carry up to 22 kg independently
- Able to work in a highly active physical environment
- Able to work with a variety of chemicals
Conditions of Employment
- A satisfactory police information check; including Vulnerable Sector Check from Police Services or an RCMP detachment.
This is a Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 2133 position; therefore, seniority applies. Refer to the most recent agreement for more information:
