Full Job Description Submit your application by email to TL-INFRA@sd68.bc.ca About The Role Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools is seeking a passionate and forward-thinking Infrastructure Administrator to join the IT Department and provide technical leadership on the IT infrastructure and operations environment across our large, modern K-12 school district. This role leads a skilled team responsible for networks, servers, cloud services, cybersecurity, telephony, device management, development environments and disaster recovery - ensuring the reliability and security of systems supporting over 15,600 learners and 2,300 staff.
What You Will Do
- Lead, mentor and support the IT Infrastructure team.
- Provide technical leadership and hands-on oversight of infrastructure across servers, networking, cloud platforms, virtualization, telephony and district databases.
- Strengthen district cybersecurity posture through secure configurations, monitoring, identity management and incident response.
- Support our internal development environment (e.g., on-prem and cloud platforms, web and database services).
- Ensure system uptime, reliability, availability, backup and disaster recovery readiness.
- Act as senior escalation for complex issues.
- Collaborate across IT and district departments to support teaching, learning and operations.
- Manage vendor and service provider response and infrastructure project delivery.
What You Bring
- Degree in Computer Science/IT or equivalent combination of education & experience.
- 5 years of infrastructure experience (networking, servers, cloud, virtualization, telephony), including 2 years in a leadership or senior role.
- Hands-on strength in Azure/M365, Active Directory/Entra ID, virtualization, enterprise networking, disaster recovery and database and development environments.
- Knowledge and experience implementing cybersecurity best practices (identity, access, monitoring, hardening, incident response).
- Experience with modern application hosting or development environments (IIS, Azure services, databases).
- Strong communication, leadership, project management, problem-solving and collaboration skills.
- Public-sector or K-12 experience is an asset.
- Class 5 driver’s licence (travel between sites may be required).
Salary & Benefits This position offers a competitive wage of $42.97 per hour, supported by an excellent benefit and pension plan .
