About the role

Commissionaires is a not-for-profit provider of security services that operates across the nation. There are now 15 divisions representing all the provinces of Canada and three territories. Commissionaires Southern Alberta is responsible for providing professional security services for Calgary, Red Deer, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, and Suffield. We have protected people and property for public and private sector clients from coast to coast for more than 90 years.

Commissionaires’ team is comprised of former military, police, and others of all ages. Our employees work in a variety of roles such as General Security, Alarm Response, Concierge and Support to Law Enforcement, and Support to Government.

As part of our ever-expanding work force, we are looking for a Casual Enrollment Officer to do coverage for both full-time and part-time staffed positions. This could eventually lead into part-time or full-time positions.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager of the Pass Control Office, this position will be responsible to provide friendly, effective and efficient reception to all callers and visitors of the office including various members of the public, airport tenants, contractors, and visitors. This enrollment officer role requires an excellent attention to detail and ability to follow policy and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administer the application process for Transportation Security Clearances program, including Restricted Area Identification Cards, Temporary Airport Security Passes, other Airport Authority Permits, etc.
  • Prepare, amend, validate, and process requests for passes.
  • Update Visitor block pass logs/process requests for Visitor Passes.
  • Issue Keys when requested.
  • Use and review the appointment booking system.
  • Review and assignment of e-mails for response by appropriate resource.
  • Liaise with Transport Canada and CATSA to resolve issues regarding DCNs and other matters that may develop.
  • Advising organizations of the requirements for correspondence introducing their firm and establishing need and right for the issuance of airport restricted area passes. Reviewing the documentation submitted and forwarding it to the Security Manager. Advising the applicant of the Security Manager’s decision
  • Advising individuals and organizations of the Calgary Airport Authority’s requirements for correspondence requesting a Canada pass and establishing need and right for the issuance a Canada pass. Reviewing the documentation submitted and forwarding it to the Security Manager. Advising the applicant of the Security Manager’s decision.
  • Advising individuals and organizations of the requirements for Block Passes and reviewing the documentation submitted and forwarding it to the Security Manager. Advising the applicant of the Security Manager`s decision

Skills & Abilities:

  • Hold and maintain a Transportation Security Clearance (RAIC)
  • Must obtain a passing level for Transport Canada Aerodrome Security Course
  • Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, with a high level of professionalism
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Keyboarding typing Minimum 30 WPM
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to provide a high-quality customer service.
  • Full understanding of Pass Control Officer and Reception positions

Please note, the first 3 weeks of paid training will be Monday-Thursday or Tuesday – Friday. 10-hour shifts from 0730hrs -1730hrs

Working Conditions:

  • Assigned to either morning or afternoon shift, based on operational needs.
  • Schedules are subject to change as directed by the Manager/Team Lead
  • Must be able to work as an integral member of the Pass Control Office team at the Airport and work within procedures and guidelines as set by the Corps and the CAA
