Advisory Board Member – Strategic Development (Power Generation / Oil & Gas / Data Centers / Construction)

A growing Energy Manufacturing & Services company is seeking an experienced Advisory Board Member to provide strategic guidance and executive-level counsel as the organization expands across the power generation, energy, oil & gas, industrial infrastructure, and emerging data center markets.
The successful candidate will help shape the company's long-term growth strategy, strengthen industry relationships, and identify opportunities for expansion across both traditional and emerging energy sectors.
The Role
The Advisory Board Member will work closely with executive leadership, providing strategic oversight on business growth, market positioning, corporate development, and industry trends.
This role is ideal for an experienced executive with deep expertise in the energy sector and an established network across utilities, EPC firms, industrial customers, and strategic partners.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Growth
Provide strategic guidance on long-term business growth and market expansion. Identify opportunities across power generation, energy, oil & gas, and industrial infrastructure markets. Advise on competitive positioning and evolving industry trends. Support geographic expansion, diversification, and acquisition opportunities.
Business Development
Develop strategic partnerships and strengthen customer relationships.
Leverage industry connections to introduce opportunities with
Utilities. EPC firms. Energy producers. Industrial customers. Strategic partners. Advise leadership on commercial growth initiatives.
Industry Advisory
Provide insight into
Major capital projects. Power infrastructure investments. Energy transition initiatives. Critical power and backup generation. Data center power infrastructure. Mentor executive leadership on organizational growth and strategic decision-making.
Qualifications
10–15 years of executive leadership experience in: Strategic development. Business growth. Commercial leadership.
Extensive experience within
Power generation. Energy. Oil & gas. Industrial infrastructure. Proven success developing long-term growth and market expansion strategies. Strong network across utilities, EPC firms, industrial customers, and power generation organizations. Experience identifying emerging market opportunities.
Strong understanding of
Power generation technologies. Energy markets. Industrial service businesses. Experience with strategic planning, mergers & acquisitions, corporate development, or diversification is considered an asset. Strong commercial and financial acumen. Excellent executive communication and relationship-building skills. Previous Board or Advisory experience is highly desirable.
Time Commitment
Part-Time / Advisory
Weekly advisory board meetings (virtual or in-person). Occasional ad hoc consultations to provide strategic guidance and operational support.
Location
Remote. Candidates should be based in Edmonton or Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
