Environmental Health Safety Specialist

About the role

We’re excited to share an opportunity for an existing vacancy as EHS Specialist. The EHS Specialist will support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of environmental, health and safety programs within a manufacturing facility in Stratford.

This position will play a key role in promoting a safe and compliant workplace, with a particular focus on WSIB claims management, early and safe return-to-work programs, incident prevention and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will work closely with employees, supervisors, leadership, healthcare providers and external agencies to reduce workplace risk and support positive claims outcomes.

Daily responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Manage workplace injury and illness claims from initial reporting through resolution. Coordinate WSIB documentation, submissions, communication and follow-up activities. Develop, administer and monitor early and safe return-to-work programs. Work with employees, supervisors, healthcare providers and WSIB representatives to establish suitable modified-work plans. Track claim status, lost-time incidents, accommodation requirements and return-to-work progress. Identify opportunities to reduce claims duration, recurrence and associated costs. Maintain accurate and confidential records related to injuries, claims, medical restrictions and accommodations. Conduct workplace incident, injury and near-miss investigations. Complete root-cause analysis and recommend corrective and preventative actions. Mandatory Requirements: Minimum of 3 years of experience in an environmental, health and safety role within a manufacturing or industrial environment. Hands-on experience managing WSIB claims and return-to-work programs. Strong knowledge of Ontario workplace health and safety legislation and WSIB requirements. Experience coordinating modified-work and workplace accommodation plans. Proven ability to conduct incident investigations and root-cause analysis. Experience performing workplace inspections, risk assessments and safety audits. Strong organizational and documentation skills with the ability to manage multiple active claims and priorities. Excellent communication, coaching and interpersonal skills.

Salary Range: $75,000–$90,000
