Job Description We are looking for a skilled Commercial HVAC - Refrigeration Technician to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems. You will be responsible for ensuring that all HVAC and refrigeration units are operating efficiently and effectively, diagnosing issues, and performing necessary repairs. This role requires a strong understanding of commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems, excellent problem­ solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Safety is a top priority, and you must adhere to all safety protocols and regulations. Additionally, you will be expected to keep detailed records of all work performed and parts used.

Starting Rate: $39.96 per hour

Job Duties Include Reporting to the Director or Assistant Director of Engineering, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintain, and repair commercial refrigeration systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot these system issues
  • Perform routine maintenance to ensure systems operate efficiently.
  • Replace defective parts and components.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Keep detailed records of all work performed and parts used.
  • Communicate effectively with superiors to explain issues and solutions.
  • Work independently or as part of a team.
  • Perform emergency repairs as needed.
  • Test refrigeration systems for leaks and other issues.
  • Calibrate refrigeration systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
  • Order and maintain inventory of parts and supplies.
  • Collaborate with other departments as needed.
  • Ensure proper disposal of refrigerants and other hazardous materials.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Consistently offers professional, engaging and friendly service
  • Must answer the radio calls.
  • Must be able to keep a detailed logbook
  • Ongoing dedication to exceptional guest service, both to internal and external guests
  • Must have the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to complete requests in timely, accurate, efficient and knowledgeable manner
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications Your Skills & Qualifications:

  • Red Seal Certification in refrigeration or HVAC technology Required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial refrigeration.
  • Strong understanding of refrigeration systems, components, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and blueprints.
  • Proficiency with tools, diagnostic equipment, and computer-based troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of Hussman systems (an asset).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and adaptability.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various environments.
  • Previous hotel experience (an asset).

Additional Information

Visa Requirements : Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
