Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Dusty. Work setting: Remote location. Various locations. Relocation costs covered by employer. Tasks: Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform brake adjustments. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Perform preventive maintenance. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Air Brakes Endorsement. Driver's License (Class 1 or A). First Aid Certificate. Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports. Driver logbook. Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Communication systems experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment. Security and safety: Valid passport. Basic security clearance. Criminal record check. Driver's validity licence check. Driving record check (abstract). Transportation/travel information: Travel expenses paid by employer. Valid driver's licence. Willing to travel cross-border. Willing to travel for extended periods. Willing to travel overnight.
