We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Lead Mechanical Engineer- Mining and Metals who will join our Mechanical Resources Team. In collaboration with the greater Energy and Resources team, this role will be called upon to assume responsibility for a multitude of multidisciplinary projects primarily in the Mining sectors. Initially this position will be leading a regional group focused on the Mining and metals sector across Western Canada.
Primary Responsibilities
- Act as mechanical manager for medium and large-scale studies and projects, including direct supervision of engineers, designers, and project team stakeholders.
- Actively participate in the design and development of plans and specifications for equipment such as crushers, screens, conveyors, hoppers, transfer chutes, rotary kilns, etc.
- Actively participate in the design of material handling, crushing plants, hydrometallurgical processes and concentrators such as floatation, leaching, filtration, solvent extraction and even tailings filtration and processing.
- Ensure multidisciplinary coordination to establish plant layouts in accordance with industry standards and best practices established by our customers.
- Deliver mechanical engineering according to the established scope, estimated hours, planned dates, and expected quality in accordance with company standards.
- Act as a mentor within industrial mechanics team.
- Influence the execution plan for brownfield projects to align with existing site constraints and project objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, with recognized experience in the mining industry.
- Professional engineering certification in Canada (OIQ, an asset).
- More than 10 years of experience, specifically in metallurgical processing, bulk handling, and strategic minerals.
- Strong ability to solve technical problems.
- Ability to work with other disciplines and influence the execution of studies and projects.
- Strong ability to motivate and mobilize the mechanical team.
- Field experience (inspection, troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning) an asset.
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
The expected salary for this position is from $145,000 to $160,000 based on the richness and diversity of the candidate’s experience, training, skills and internal equity. The position or associated salary could vary depending on the profile of the candidate.
