We are seeking a motivated and curious operator to join our tight-knit team at one of Canada's most distinctive water treatment facilities — a Class IV plant located on CFB Wainwright, serving both the military base and the community of Wainwright, Alberta.This is not your average operator role. Our plant uniquely combines time-tested conventional treatment (flocculation, clarification, and multimedia filtration) with state-of-the-art Veolia micro-filtration membranes — giving you hands-on experience with the full spectrum of water treatment technology. You will be mentored, supported, and set up for success from day one.Job DescriptionWhat You'll Do Every DayStep into a dynamic and varied role where no two shifts are exactly the same. Your responsibilities will include:Conduct thorough daily equipment inspections — instrument verification, cleaning, and calibration across the entire facilityLead laboratory work and water quality sampling — measuring turbidity, residual chlorine, pH, ammonia, and more at multiple locations throughout the distribution systemMonitor and control the SCADA system — keeping a real-time eye on plant performance and responding proactively to alarmsManage and optimize chemical dosing — including Potassium Permanganate, Sulphuric Acid, Gas Chlorine, Aqueous Ammonia, and PolymerOperate and maintain GE membrane micro-filtration systems — including weekly Clean-in-Place (CIP) procedures across 3 unitsPerform preventative maintenance — oil changes, filter changes, greasing, pneumatic valve rebuilds, and more as part of the monthly PM programExecute daily QA rounds at two reservoirs and a pump house to verify system integrityBackwash 4 dual-media sand filters on a scheduled and demand basisManage chemical inventory and initiate procurement as neededAccurately enter operational data into the Simo Management Water DatabaseCollaborate with on-site contractors and support DND-requested testing protocolsContribute to a safe, clean, and professional work environment — janitorial duties and groundskeeping includedQualificationsWhat You BringWe value potential as much as credentials.
