We are seeking: Research Assistant Permanent Full-Time (35h/week) starting January 2026

Are you looking for real-world research experience? As a member of VHA’s multidisciplinary research team, the Research Assistant will further VHA’s vision to lead with science in the homecare sector. Working within an embedded research environment, the Research Assistant will work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary research team to support key organizational research priorities. The individual will be responsible for supporting qualitative and mixed-methods data collection, analysis and reporting, client and provider engagement activities, literature reviews and administrative activities. The Research Assistant will have the opportunity to work alongside experts in home care research to contribute to real change and evidence-informed decision-making in this growing sector.

Key Areas of Accountability:

  • Support the collection of qualitative and mixed-methods data obtained from documents, interviews and/or focus groups.
  • Support engagement activities with diverse stakeholders, including clients and care partners, healthcare providers, and managers.
  • Analyze document, interview and/or focus group data using qualitative analysis techniques (e.g. descriptive analysis, thematic analysis).
  • Contribute to conducting literature reviews of scientific and grey literature.
  • Support report and manuscript preparation to report research findings to the broader community.
  • Identify and act upon additional opportunities for knowledge translation.
  • Contribute to the identification and design of further related research.
  • Assist with administrative and coordination activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus experience conducting or supporting research in a related field.
  • Completed coursework or experience conducting qualitative or mixed methods research.
  • Interest and knowledge of qualitative data collection and analysis methods.
  • Critical thinking skills, strong attention to detail, an enthusiasm for new discovery, and improving quality of care and services in the home care sector.
  • The ability to clearly communicate research findings, including through the generation of compelling visualizations, clear presentations for colleagues and academic audiences, reports, and publications.
  • Experience conducting interviews and/or focus groups, or other experiences related engagement in the community or health sector is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and within a team environment with staff at all levels within the organization.
  • Tact, discretion, and ability to manage confidential sensitive data and information.
  • Ability to work virtually.
