Talent Acquisition Manager, Human Resources
About the role
The Alma Mater Society (AMS) is the oldest student association in Canada and has been a central student organization at Queen's since its founding in 1858. Today, the AMS acts as a service, advocacy, and governing body on behalf of all students enrolled in AMS-affiliated programs at Queen's University.
The AMS is a not-for-profit entity created by the Society to ensure its continuing financial viability by overseeing the management of its services and associated financial affairs. It is bound by the By-laws and corporate philosophy of our Mission and Operating statements as set out in the AMS Constitution.
In addition to providing wage-based service staff positions for students wanting employment, the AMS seeks to support the Society's broader objectives through the provisioning of a high quality, relevant range of student funded services, that provide a wide range of employment opportunities and meaningful out-of-classroom learning and skill acquisition experiences for students. The Human Resources Office is responsible for ensuring that all AMS members receive equitable access to employment and volunteer opportunities within the AMS and that the experience is safe, productive, and welcoming. The Talent Acquisition Manager works with the Human Resources Officer to conduct hiring and ensure that all AMS services, offices, and commissions comply with AMS Hiring and Appointment Policy and Procedures. The Talent Acquisition Manager is also responsible for supporting any and all recruitment campaigns to ensure that all Queen's students are aware of the opportunities available through the AMS.

Accountability Attention to Detail Communication Cultural Sensitivity Problem Solving Conflict Management Time Management Client/Customer Focus Job Duties Work to complete the logistical work of recruitment and hiring as well as support HR functions and be an integral part of the HR team Attend transition and AMS Mandated Training organized by the Human Resources Officer Respond to inquiries regarding hiring timelines and application requirements from interested applicants within the student body Coordinate and communicate hiring timelines to all hiring panels Review all interview questions prior to hiring committees receiving submitted applications as required Administration of the Online Application System Read and be familiar with all relevant AMS HR policies and those pertaining to hiring, including but not limited to the Hiring and Appointment Policy, and the AMS Standards of Performance Collaborate with the Marketing Office with the development of social media recruitment strategies, and in person campaign initiatives such as boothing Participate in pan-AMS recruitment efforts for full-time hiring for next year Ensure that all job descriptions are updated and posted on www.myAMS.org Collaborate with the HR Manager to oversee the distribution of the Interview Bias Training module to all staff who will be sitting on a hiring panel Ensure proper return, data input and storage of all AMS applications as well as ensure proper disposal of applications at appropriate times according to AMS policy Review past Hiring Reports to inform annual Recruitment strategies Use data from hiring period to create annual Hiring Report in April, to be submitted to the Board of Directors, with the objective of representing long-term trends in hiring and recruitment and informing recruitment strategy for the following season Ensure newly hired staff complete their payroll information in both HRDownloads and Dayforce, following up as required to ensure seamless transition, and notify HR Manager and Payroll when complete Ownership of the Master Contact list, in partnership with Human Resources Officer Respect and adhere to all company policies, procedures and ethical standards Strive to foster a warm, comfortable and respectful atmosphere for all Always serve as a representative of the AMS and its mission statement Ensure that all employees comply with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards Complete all assigned tasks efficiently and attentively Attend and fully participate in all in person and virtual meetings Maintain timely and consistent communication with your direct supervisor Facilitate a smooth transition Complete other duties as assigned Job Requirements Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills Demonstrated time management skills Ability to supervise and motivate a team to achieve and exceed their goals Ability to remain calm and poised in urgent situations Work Conditions Interaction with employees, management, and the public at large Working in an office environment Operation of desktop computer and peripherals The AMS is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of age, race, religion, colour, disability, sex, sexual orientation, or national origin.
