Location: Blachford Lodge, Northwest Territories

Position Summary

The Systems & Maintenance Technician supports the safe and reliable operation of lodge infrastructure, facilities, and grounds. Reporting to the Property & Systems Lead, this role assists with preventative maintenance, repairs, fuel handling, sanitation systems, and general property support in a remote northern environment.

This is a hands-on position requiring mechanical aptitude, adaptability, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and teamwork.

Seasonal staff may also support guiding or guest-facing operations when infrastructure responsibilities are fully covered and operational capacity permits.

What You’ll Be Doing

Infrastructure & Utilities Support

  • Assist with operation and monitoring of generators, boilers, heating systems, and fuel systems

  • Support handling and transfer of diesel, propane, pellet fuel, and related materials

  • Assist with water supply, filtration, utilidor, and wastewater systems

  • Support hot tub monitoring, cleaning, and sanitation processes

  • Perform routine system inspections and report concerns promptly

  • Maintain maintenance and fuel handling logs

  • Escalate infrastructure or fuel-related concerns immediately

Preventative Maintenance & Repairs

  • Support preventative maintenance programs

  • Perform basic repairs and troubleshooting under supervision

  • Maintain tools, equipment, and mechanical spaces

  • Assist contractors and external service providers working on site

Property & Grounds Maintenance

  • Perform snow removal and general site safety maintenance

  • Cut, split, stack, and transport firewood

  • Maintain trails, access routes, and outdoor areas

  • Assist with helipad and airstrip clearing

  • Support freight handling and material movement

Sanitation & Environmental Support

  • Assist with composting toilet systems

  • Support environmental stewardship and waste management practices

  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized workspaces

Team & Operational Support

  • Work collaboratively within a small remote lodge team

  • Support operational priorities during peak periods

  • Assist with guest-facing or guiding activities when operationally required

What We’re Looking For

  • Mechanical aptitude and hands-on maintenance experience

  • Ability to work safely in a remote northern environment

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

  • Physically capable of lifting, carrying, snow removal, and outdoor labour

  • Comfortable working independently and within a team

  • Adaptable, reliable, and safety focused

  • Experience with generators, heating systems, plumbing, fuel systems, or remote infrastructure is considered an asset

  • Previous remote camp, lodge, hospitality, or outdoor operations experience is an asset

  • Valid driver’s licence considered an asset

Working Conditions

The role involves physical labour, rotational scheduling, and living on site during work rotations.
