About the role
We are hiring for a Clinical Dietitian – Diabetes Education position for the Oliver Health Centre, in the town of Oliver, B.C. This is a permanent part-time 0.59fte opportunity. This position works 08:00 to 16:00 on Monday, Thursday and Friday. One day per week the position is based at the nearby Osoyoos Health Centre.

About the position:
The Clinical Dietitian - Diabetes Education Program IDA/CDE is a member of a multidisciplinary health care team and provides nutritional care and support to clients living with all types of diabetes in accordance with established policies, standards, and procedures. Utilizing and applying advanced knowledge and experience in relevant clinical techniques (through Insulin Dose Adjustment (IDA) competency and/or Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) qualifications) and in collaboration with the health care team, the Clinical Dietitian provides nutritional services through: nutritional assessment; care planning and charting; intervention, client goal setting and monitoring; counseling and education programs for patients/clients; orientation, guidance, and sharing of collegial information or demonstration of equipment or work processes to others including peers, new staff, and students in accordance with professional standards and program objectives. The Clinical Dietitian provides input on Regional, Provincial, and local diabetes services by participating in the development of nutritional practice guidelines and procedures and by participating in research and continuous quality improvement initiatives for the program.

Surrounded by picturesque orchards, forests, vineyards and mountains, Oliver is an ideal location for outdoor recreational pursuits. Given the abundance of lakes in the area, water sports, including water-skiing, windsurfing, canoeing and fishing are very popular. Other activities include cycling, hiking, wildlife viewing and horseback riding.
Osoyoos
Located at the narrowest section of Osoyoos Lake, the Town of Osoyoos enjoys the hottest summer days in Canada. With all that heat, there are many opportunities for great summer activities including all sorts of water sports, biking, and hiking. Vineyards and fruit stands are also plentiful in the small multicultural community.
Baccalaureate degree in nutrition and dietetics
Successful completion of an accredited hospital based dietetic internship program (or equivalent acceptable to the facility).
Full registration as a Registered Dietitian with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).
Two (2) years of clinical nutrition experience including one (1) year working with Diabetes clients in a health care environment, or an equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training suitable to the facility or program is required.
Insulin Dose Adjustment (IDA) Competency, or Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) or completion of the Diabetes Educator Certificate Program from Michener Institute.
Valid BC Driver’s License required.
