About the role

Job Description

What is the opportunity?

The Director of Identity and Access Management Authentication Engineering is responsible for leading the development and implementation of all enterprise shared IAM Authentication services across RBC under ownership of the IAM Global Security business unit. This role provides management oversight globally for IAM Authentication Engineering across EIAM and CIAM solutions and supports a high performing team to deliver best in class solutions. Participates in vendor management of IAM providers and leads cross functional teams overseeing IT development of IAM services to ensure strategic goals and objectives are accomplished within approved time, scope and budget.

In this role, you will lead and inspire a high-performing team in delivering innovative authentication solutions. This role is pivotal in driving the development and implementation of IAM (Identity and Access Management) services, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and security standards.

What will you do?

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance for authentication development and engineering across EIAM and CIAM capabilities
  • Develop and deliver a robust engineering service model
  • Facilitate disciplined decision-making to balance business needs with IAM strategy and operations.
  • Contribute to roadmap development and ensure IT investments align with future-state architectures
  • Manage and optimize team performance, fostering a culture of innovation and growth
  • Collaborate with various teams and stakeholders to promote IAM best practices and services
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and manage audit findings

What do you need to succeed? Must-have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering / Science (or equivalent).
  • 7+ years of leadership experience, managing engineering teams. Must have strong technology, people management, and business skills
  • 7+ years’ experience in IT risk technologies, technology strategy, and/or technology operations.
  • 7+ years of hands on experience with: Entra ID or Okta, must have a solid understanding of authentication protocols
  • Experience implementing automation or DevSecOps is essential
  • Well versed in managing relationships with senior leadership and external vendors
  • Ability to build a high-performance culture and lead change effectively

Nice to have:

  • Okta or Entra ID certifications
  • CISSP, CCSP or similar
  • Experience in large scale, global enterprises
