Director, Information Technology (IT) and Geomatics Services and Chief Information Officer (CIO)

The National Capital Commission is looking for a Director, IT and Geomatics Services and CIO for an indeterminate position. The position is classified as a RÉ-08 ($154,301 to $170,710 per annum).

JOB OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Vice President, the Director provides strategic leadership in the development and integration of Information Technology, Information Management and Security, and Geomatics Services, policies and programs to support the NCC’s mandate. The Director is also responsible for planning, developing and implementing IT solutions that align with the NCC’s business priorities, operations, and strategic objectives.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), Business or a related discipline, or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

EXPERIENCE
A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in holding progressively significant responsibilities in management-related fields and experience in each of the following:

  • Leading the development and implementation of long-term IT strategies and annual business plans aligned with organizational objectives in small to medium-sized organizations.

  • Planning and delivering major IT programs and projects that advance organizational strategy and support short and long-term goals.

  • Overseeing a broad range of IT functions, including enterprise system modernization, artificial intelligence, workplace technologies, on-prem and cloud infrastructure, geographic information systems, data management and analytics, end-user support and service delivery, information management and IT security.

  • Negotiating and managing complex, high impact, multi-year service contracts.

  • Managing human and financial resources, including procurement and contracting processes.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Of current trends in information technology and information management and security across industry and government.

  • Of IT methodologies across multiple domains, such as ITIL, Agile.

  • Of contemporary IT and business management practices.

ASSETS

  • Providing oversight and/or delivering the implementation of an asset-focused Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.

  • Promoting and implementing artificial intelligence (AI) integration: ensuring data and cloud readiness, integrating AI capabilities into business processes and digital services, enabling end-user adoption through change management and training, and monitoring solution performance, compliance, and value realization over time.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Possess or eligible to obtain Secret security clearance.
  • Linguistic profile: Bilingual CBC.
  • Position is in the National Capital Region. The person selected for this position must reside within a commutable distance from the workplace at 40 Elgin Street, Ottawa, Ontario.
