About the role

Provides confidential administrative support services to the Corporation, including support to the President & CEO, Chief Financial Officer and additional Senior Leadership Team members, as well as other NTPC employees.

  • Maintain a list of Action Items and assist various Chiefs and / or Directors to meet obligations as agreed for various groups including Board of Directors, Governance Committees and Senior Leadership.
  • Provides administrative and/or secretarial support directly to NTPC’s CEO, COO and CFO.
  • Reviewing and prioritizing mail. Determining what information or recommendations require immediate attention.
  • Maintain the distribution list for regulatory filings and provide professional correspondence for transmittal of regulatory filings with the Public Utilities Board and other Interested Parties.
  • Follow up on Action Items to ensure the flow of progress and deliverables from meetings.
  • Assist in coordinating monthly Safety meetings, appointing presenters and recording minutes for submission to the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
  • Book corporate travel for multiple divisions upon request
  • Provides training to, receives training from co-workers, and performs administrative duties in support of the Corporation as determined by the Team Leader in consultation with various Senior Leadership Team members.
  • As a member of the shared administrative pool, will support duties of other Administrative Assistants, as well as acting for the Team Leader, Administrative Services from time to time.
  • Develop and maintain various calendars of events (with milestones for deliverables) including such things as Board and Audit meeting dates, Legislative Assembly session dates, annual GNWT filing requirements, annual PUB filing requirements and other key dates or events that will assist Divisions in planning their workload and meeting commitments.
  • Assist in the management of the Ministerial Briefing (MBN) process for the Divisions to ensure on time delivery of materials. Solicit input for new briefing notes and confirm ongoing relevance of existing notes to keep the information on topic and noteworthy.
  • Organize and oversee the planning and execution of corporate events.
  • Supports as required Content Database Management and Employee Powerline Website Maintenance.
  • Diploma in Business Administration WITH four (4) years of administrative experience supporting senior leadership
  • Experience managing and coordinating schedules, meetings, and events
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Strong organizational skills; able to prioritize and action multiple tasks in fast-paced environments
  • Skilled in preparing documents and supporting events/projects
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Must undergo a successful criminal records check
  • Valid NWT Class 5 Driver’s License

This causal position pays $39.03 per hour plus 10% vacation pay. This position is located in Hay River, NT. No housing or relocation assistance provided.

NTPC's facilities include hydroelectric, diesel, and LNG (liquified natural gas) generation plants, transmission systems and numerous isolated electrical distribution systems. NTPC also owns and operates alternative energy assets used for the supply of residual heat, solar power and co-generation.

The Corporation’s systems serve a population of approximately 43,000 in an area of 1.3 million square kilometers. Many of the communities NTPC serves are only accessible by air, barge or winter road.
