More information about the company and its projects can be found at www.glae.ca. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Mechanical Engineer role based in Toronto, ON. The Mechanical Engineer will support building development projects by designing and analyzing HVAC, plumbing, and other mechanical systems in coordination with architectural and structural teams. Day-to-day responsibilities include producing and reviewing mechanical drawings and specifications, performing calculations and system sizing, and using CAD tools to develop detailed designs. The role involves collaborating with project managers, architects, and other engineers, assisting with site visits and inspections, and addressing technical issues during construction. The Mechanical Engineer will also contribute to cost-effective design solutions, support R&D initiatives, and ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and client requirements. Qualifications Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering, with the ability to apply core mechanical principles to building systems. Experience in Machine Design and Research and Development (R&D) for mechanical components or systems. Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for mechanical layouts, details, and coordination with other disciplines. Project Management skills to coordinate tasks, track progress, and support delivery of projects on schedule and within budget. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field; eligibility for or current professional engineering registration (P.Eng.) in Ontario considered an asset. Knowledge of Canadian building codes, mechanical standards, and industry best practices related to HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, communicate clearly in writing and verbally, and present technical information to diverse stakeholders. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and willingness to participate in site visits and field reviews as required.
