Our Calgary Head Office is seeking a Summer Student to support our diverse operating companies in our IT department. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated post-secondary student enrolled in a Computer Science or Information Technology program. This is a full-time, in office summer position from May through August 2026.
Description:
Under the direction of the IT Manager, the summer student will provide IT help desk support. The IT Summer Student troubleshoots and responds to service desk tickets for software and hardware issues, including remote support of PC's and peripherals in a networked environment.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoots and responds to service desk tickets for software and hardware issues, including remote support of PC's and peripherals in a networked environment.
- Installs a wide variety of computer hardware equipment.
- Troubleshoots and repair software issues of moderate complexity may involve removal/reinstall of applications or system registry/file changes, using diagnostic tools.
- Assists with technology needs analysis and technology planning.
- Plans, implements, documents, troubleshoots and repairs of the network and computing infrastructure.
- Trains and supports end users.
- Performs network administration including backup, security management, user account management, e-mail systems, web server, internet access, phone system, office systems, electronic media and applications support.
- Complete ad-hoc projects and other duties as assigned.
- Maintain a tidy and orderly work area exhibiting pride in work performance and contributing to a healthy and safe work environment.
- Ensure exceptional, courteous, and respectful customer service and support a positive client experience.
- Comply with and participate in the Company’s Health & Safety and Quality programs and initiatives.
- Perform any other duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- High School Diploma.
- Applicants must currently be enrolled in a recognized post-secondary institution and returning to full time studies in the fall.
- Eligible to work in Canada.
- Bilingual (English/French) is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a confidential capacity, high level of professionalism.
- Proficient computer skills, including MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and business communication tools.
- Basic knowledge of network technologies and protocols.
- Previous network support experience would be an asset.
- Proficiency and interest in PC configuration and end user support.
- Knowledge of network and telecommunications concepts (topologies, IP Schemas, VLANs, IP Subnets, DHCP, and DNS).
- Energetic, self-motivated, creative, and positive attitude.
- Strong time management, organizational, and prioritization skills, with high attention to detail.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Able to function effectively in teams as well as the ability to work with minimal supervision.
