Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Confined spaces. Wet/damp. Work setting: Various locations. Commercial. Residential. Construction site. Tasks: Install domestic, commercial or industrial plumbing fixtures and systems. Repair domestic, commercial or industrial plumbing fixtures and systems. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout of plumbing system, water supply network and waste and drainage systems. Prepare tenders and quotations. Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes and fixtures in walls and floors. Cut opening in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings. Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement or soldering, brazing and welding equipment. Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges. Determine piping system requirements and pipe sizing. Supervise other workers. Estimate costs and materials. Measure, cut, thread and bend pipes to required shape and size. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Plumber Trade Certification. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Hand-eye co-ordination. Handling heavy loads. Large workload. Work under pressure. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Personal suitability: Accurate. Client focus. Efficient interpersonal skills. Excellent oral communication. Judgement. Team player. Employment terms options: Early morning. Evening. Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years. Employment terms options: Morning. Day. Weekend. Other benefits: Other benefits.
