What we offer
The Manufacturing Automation & Controls Engineer will initially be focused on sourcing and commissioning production equipment, supporting the launch of the SAMI factory. After launch of the factory, this role will help drive efficiency and contribute to continuous improvement in a fast-paced, technology-focused manufacturing environment. The role requires a highly collaborative and data-oriented problem solver with an eye for detail, a strong work ethic, and sound project management skills.
What you’ll do
- Source and evaluate production equipment; manage vendors through design to commissioning.
- Lead the development of SAMI’s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, integrating our Enterprise Resource Planning system (ERP), Manufacturing Execution System (MES), and Building Management System (BMS).
- Train teams on new equipment and processes.
- Analyze production data to identify and prioritize continuous improvements in safety, quality, productivity, cost, and sustainability.
- Lead root cause analyses and collaborate with safety, quality, production, maintenance, product design, and sustainability teams to implement corrective actions.
- Other duties as required.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Power BI, Python, or other data analysis tools.
- Experience with SCADA, MES, BMS, and ERP systems.
- Proficient in PLC and robot programming.
- Skilled in reading technical drawings (structural, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic).
- Proficient in CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Revit).
- Hands-on experience setting up new manufacturing facilities; entrepreneurial mindset
- Strong project management, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
Bonus Points
- Lean Six Sigma or PMP designations are assets.
- Experience in highly automated or roboticized environments preferred.
- Background in large-scale wood product manufacturing or residential construction is an asset.
