The Opportunity:

We're looking for a highly experienced and strategic Director of Software Development to lead our budget applications engineering teams. The ideal candidate is a visionary leader who can accelerate product development, modernize our technology stack, and implement AI-first strategies to boost productivity. You will be responsible for building, mentoring, and managing high-performing software development teams to deliver high-quality, secure, and groundbreaking products that anticipate and exceed customer expectations. This role requires a strong understanding of the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC), from product management and prioritization to deployment and hosting.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Growth:

• Build, grow, and mentor high-performing software development teams that support multiple SaaS products.
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance reviews.

Strategic Planning & Execution:

• Accelerate product deliverables by implementing efficient processes and modern technologies.
• Implement AI-first strategies to significantly increase software development productivity.
• Drive SDLC modernization, including adopting advanced QA methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and hosting on platforms like Azure or AWS.
• Ensure all products adhere to the CISO roadmap and security standards.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Lead cross-functional initiatives to drive integrated synergies between engineering, product management, and other departments.
• Collaborate with product managers to prioritize features, estimate timelines, and ensure product roadmaps are met.
• Communicate technical strategy and progress to stakeholders across the organization.

Technical Oversight:

• Oversee the entire end-to-end process, from initial design to deployment and maintenance.

• Ensure the use of best practices in coding, design, testing, and infrastructure management.

• Maintain a strong understanding of current and emerging technologies to keep our products competitive and secure.

Qualifications:

Experience:

• 10+ years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing multiple teams.
• Proven experience leading development for SaaS products.
• Demonstrated ability to drive product and SDLC modernization.

Technical Skills:

• Deep expertise in the software development lifecycle including product management, design, coding, QA, and CI/CD.
• Strong familiarity with cloud platforms, specifically Azure or AWS.
• Experience implementing security protocols and working within a CISO roadmap.

Leadership Skills:

• Exceptional leadership and team-building skills.

• Ability to think strategically and execute tactically.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and lead cross-functionally.

A compelling AI perspective on what a successful AI strategy looks like to accelerate productivity, demonstrating not just the "what," but the "why" and the "how."

Location:

This position will be hybrid 3x a week in our Oakville, ON office.
