Position Summary
Manager, Health Records
This position requires an innovative individual with a proven ability to successfully implement change. The manager will play an integral role in planning, developing, implementing, organizing, and evaluating the coding, transcription and scanning services in Health Records. In addition, the manager will be responsible to establish an enterprise data quality framework and structure that enables the capture of quality information to support patient care and strategic decision making. All roles are essential in providing a safe and healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and others by ensuring that health and safety policies are followed.
On a practical level, you will
- Solid understanding of CMG, RIW, and HBAM funding methodologies and the impact these have on hospital funding
- Knowledge of current trends in Information Management, CIHI standards and the health care system.
- Knowledge of management theory and practice in operations, strategic planning, quality management, customer service, evaluation, and budget preparation
- Knowledge of the requirements of the SEIU collective agreement
- Knowledge of current pertinent legislation
- Experience in a leadership or management capacity.
- Advanced computer skills: Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to work independently and provide leadership and management support to the staff who will report to this program
- Strong interpersonal skills with good judgment and tact
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to effectively set work priorities and work without supervision
Qualifications
- Masters degree in a clinical or administrative stream (preferred)
- Baccalaureate degree in a clinical or administrative stream in health information management or related field
- Certified with the Canadian College for Health Information Management (CHIM)
