Position Description

The Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Clinical Coordinator (DIR CC) will be responsible for leading and facilitating best practices, and flow initiatives ensuring accessible, effective, and efficient care is delivered to our patients and their caregivers. The DIR CC will support and participate in quality and safety initiatives and promote service excellence. Responsibilities include development, review, and revision of flow initiatives, building collaborations with MRTs, and streamlining patients journey through DIR. In addition, implementation of care pathways and clinical best practices to meet the growing needs of our patients. The DIR CC will participate in the implementation and evaluation of patient care processes, patient & family centered care and procedures at SickKids. The DIR CC must possess the maturity, ability and flexibility to deal effectively with constant changing situations encountered in the complex health care environment. Has the ability to manage change and empower others to influence clinical practice, processes, and flow both within the DIR.

Here's What you'll Get To Do

  • Act as a liaison between the DIR Senior Leadership and staff for operational and functional issues.
  • Collaborates and leads the development / revision of evidence based standards of care, policies/procedures, and protocols for patients in DIR.
  • Contributes and provides input into the DIR strategic planning.
  • Participates in inter-professional committees and quality improvement activities.
  • Oversees the execution of specific projects, engages SMEs and stakeholders as necessary.
  • Ensures the nursing plan and staffing schedules are responsive to and meet the needs of the department and patients, including recruitment and onboarding of new hires and trainees.
  • Actively promotes and contributes in the professional development of peers and other health care team members.
  • Engages in reflective practice and participates in the Performance Management program.
  • Promote a positive working climate to foster the development of team spirit and high morale.
  • Demonstrates commitment to continuing education activities and life-long learning as it relates to ongoing professional development and excellence in patient care.

Here's What You'll Need

  • Five (5+) recent experience nursing. Previous work experience in paediatrics is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in Imaging/Interventional Radiology and leadership responsibilities is preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Share point Programs
  • This position presents significant interactions with all members of the Health Care Team and with patients/families requiring a high degree of responsiveness with the ability to support both patient and family centered care needs and the patient care team.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently and make appropriate decisions, exercise sound judgement and use considerable initiative, and problem solving and critical thinking, teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to change in a rapidly changing work environment.
  • A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity & inclusion.

Education / Memberships

  • Regulated Health Professional, in good standing with College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • BScN Degree required. Master's degree an asset.
  • Current BLS/CPR Certification.
