Job Summary Our GDI Ainsworth Vancouver office is looking to add a Structured Cabling Technician to the growing team. The role involves installing and maintaining structured cabling and network infrastructure to support reliable connectivity across customer sites. Responsibilities extend to conducting site surveys, designing cable pathways, and ensuring all project activities are planned and executed efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation of structured cabling systems, pulling, terminating and testing copper and fiber cabling as per specifications and customer requirements
  • Troubleshoot and test various network and connectivity related issues
  • Installation of network equipment and LAN room buildouts
  • Installation of cable support systems i.e. cable tray, conduit, and J-hooks
  • Site surveys to determine project requirements.
  • Design and install cable pathway and support systems i.e. cable trays, cable racks, J-hooks, conduit
  • Project planning – ensuring projects are completed on time and on budget

Qualifications

  • 5 plus years of experience required
  • Belden, Panduit, AMP, certification is a plus
  • Conduit experience is a plus
  • Proficiency in reading and comprehending technical drawings with the ability to carry out the scope of work and provide the required deliverables and documentation
  • Must be able to install, terminate, troubleshoot, and test all types of low voltage copper cabling.
  • Must be able to install, terminate, troubleshoot, and test fiber optic cabling.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following company policies and safety procedures.
  • Excellent customer communication and service skills
  • Must have a strong work ethic and work well in a team environment.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft and computers
  • Open availability to work non-traditional hours including emergency service calls on short notice, weekend and after hours work as required
  • Availability for occasional multi-night travel for out-of-town work.
  • Must have a clean valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to pass an RCMP background check

The hourly range is $34.00 - $38.00
