Mixing Engineer
About the role
A solo artist is seeking a freelance mixing engineer to professionally mix and master several self-recorded tracks, preparing them for release. The artist handles all recording, arrangement, and performance independently and is looking for a collaborator to elevate the final sound quality. This is a remote, project-based opportunity ideal for someone passionate about supporting emerging talent and helping shape the sonic identity of a new artist.
Responsibilities
- Mix and master multiple tracks to industry standards, ensuring clarity, balance, and cohesion across all elements.
- Collaborate with the artist to understand their creative vision and incorporate feedback throughout the process.
- Prepare final masters suitable for digital distribution platforms.
- Address any technical issues in the recordings, such as noise reduction, EQ adjustments, and dynamic processing.
- Deliver high-quality audio files in required formats and within agreed timelines.
Skills And Requirements
- Proficiency in mixing and mastering with a strong portfolio of previous work, preferably with solo artists or independent musicians.
- Experience using industry-standard DAWs and audio plugins (e.g., Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Ableton Live, iZotope, Waves).
- Strong communication skills and ability to interpret creative direction.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering polished, release-ready tracks.
- Ability to work remotely and manage project deadlines independently.
- Familiarity with current trends in music production and mastering for streaming platforms is a plus.
