About This Role

As a member company of Socomec SAS, Powersmiths has become the North American hub for integrated power transformation, energy storage, power distribution system design and manufacturing. With access to numerous technology centers beyond North America, Powersmiths is now designing and developing a new line of exciting and innovative products for the global power market.

As a result of our recent integration with Socomec SAS, Powersmiths has new and significant opportunities for growth.

This is a key role within the Quality Team that will serve as a Quality Specialist, responsible for ensuring that all products delivered to customers are in compliance with manufacturing specifications and company standards. This is a wide-ranging role to achieve and maintain high levels of quality.

Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities

  • Driving root cause analysis process, including problem-solving activities, reviewing documents, drawings, and instructions to ensure conformance to requirements, and participating in cross-functional team meetings.
  • Ensuring all non-conformances are identified and controlled. Driving the process of investigation to ensure timely closure/effectiveness.
  • Performing quality system audits.
  • Promoting initiatives to improve quality.
  • Provide support to Supply Chain Team, this can include highlighting issues related to suppliers quality and bring it to supply chain team attention.
  • Reviewing customers, suppliers documentation, such as, certifications, quality requirements to ensure compliance to Powersmiths requirements.
  • Working with design engineers to capture the product requirements and ensuring appropriate preventive and corrective measures are put into place.
  • Assist in reducing the occurrence of manufacturing errors.
  • Participating in continuous improvement activities.
  • This position requires a hands-on approach combined with a strategic mindset.
  • Promote and enhance a safety-first culture .Adherence to all company policies, including health and safety protocols.

Essential Qualifications, Experience, And Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment with integrated power and power conversion products in various stages of prototyping, commercialization and production.
  • Experience working in engineer-to-order, configure-to-order, or custom product manufacturing.
  • Experience in quality core tools usage (FMEA, CPlan, PPAP, …).
  • Certification in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and / or other problem solving techniques.
  • Experience with ISO14001/ISO9001 Environmental and Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience in creating and updating documentations (Procedures, Work Instructions,…..).
  • An appreciation and passion for mitigating the environmental impacts of manufacturing (products, processes, packaging, recycling, energy conservation, etc).
  • Demonstrated proficiency with quality inspection activities, and the use of appropriate root cause analysis tools (NC, CAR, 8D, problem solving,…).
  • Resourceful, innovative and energetic.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • Highly developed attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship.
  • Ability to travel to international destinations; must possess and maintain a valid passport for international travel.

Compensation range: $80,000 – $90,000 CAD
