Description
The Equity Research Associate will support BMO’s Senior Industrial Analyst in analyzing publicly traded companies, conducting industry research, and preparing detailed financial models and reports. This role is ideal for individuals with strong analytical skills and a passion for financial markets.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct thorough financial analysis of large cap publicly traded companies within the transportation, aerospace and industrials sectors.
- Assist senior analyst in conducting comprehensive industry and company analysis.
- Develop and maintain financial models to forecast company performance.
- Analyze financial statements, market data, and industry trends.
- Prepare detailed research reports, presentations, and investment recommendations.
- Monitor news, earnings releases, and other relevant information for covered companies and industries.
- Attend company earnings calls, conferences, and industry events.
- Maintain databases of financial and industry data.
- Engage with sales, trading, and investment clients.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and firm policies.
Experience/Skills
A combination of exceptional writing skills, technical knowledge and skills in equity research, finance or accounting demonstrated through relevant work and educational experience is required. Candidates must have a clear and proven track record of achievement throughout their education and career. Other necessary attributes include:
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in industry and/or finance.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Proficiency in financial modeling and valuation techniques.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Superior work ethic, self‑motivation and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to systematically manage a heavy workload and meet stringent deadlines.
- Flexibility to work irregular or extended hours.
- A keen interest in Equity Research.
- Solid technology skills with robust knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Bloomberg.
Education
Candidates should have:
- Post‑secondary degree in a related field of study.
- Preference given for Masters degree, CPA/CA and/or CFA charterholders.
Salary
Base Salary: CAD $100,000.00-115,000.00
Pay Type: Salaried
Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance‑based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
