The Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department is seeking an experienced leader to manage our Park Planning and Development team. This position will be responsible for directing all aspects of park acquisitions, planning, design, construction and the development of Saanich’s park system.

You will apply your expertise and strong people and project management skills to lead a diverse team of supervisors, professional park planners and designers, technicians, and construction tradespeople. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring staff guide public engagement initiatives using IAP2 tools and techniques, as well as overseeing the Division’s $4 million capital budget and leading project implementation planning to ensure projects are delivered effectively and on time.

The ideal candidate will have a university degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field, along with a minimum of six years of relevant experience, including management and leadership in the planning, design, construction, and management of parks, trails, and open spaces. Experience working on projects within a municipal government or department is considered an asset. Candidates must be a member, or be eligible for membership, in the Planning Institute of British Columbia or the British Columbia Society of Landscape Architects. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. A valid B.C. Class 5 Driver’s License and a personal vehicle is also required.

This is an Exempt position with an annual salary range of $115,745 - $136,125, an excellent benefits package and a generous pension plan.
