The Niagara Catholic District School Board invites applications for the position of Casual Computer Technician.
Our Casual Computer Technicians work on an on call, “as needed” basis, filling in for Computer Technician staff who are away or on a leave as well as provide additional support when required. This position resolves technical issues experienced by Niagara Catholic staff using a vast array of skills including superior communication skills. This support is provided both remotely and in person at any one of our 60 plus locations throughout Niagara.

WHAT YOU BRING:
- 3-year college diploma in a computer/technology-based program
- Strong and effective communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with others as a team and providing customer service.
- Ability to work well in both group scenarios as well as in a self-directed context
- Ability to work at various locations within the Board's jurisdiction, including access to reliable transportation
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, carrying and lifting equipment up to 20kg
- Good time management & organization skills
- Skill in troubleshooting and in the repair and maintenance of computer systems, software implementations and related peripherals
- Prior experience managing computer applications in a networked environment
- Thorough understanding of the installation, configuration, operation and maintenance of Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating system platforms
- Skilled with the operation, installation and support of Microsoft Office Suite
- Expertise with networking platforms including network routers and switches.
- Competence with basic networking protocols and hardware
- Ability to perform troubleshooting and remedial actions, and maintain the operation of computers and networks
- Solid working knowledge of computer desktop and laptop repair and maintenance of computer networking equipment such as routers and switches
- Experience working with local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs)
- Proven track record working with Interactive Technology solutions such as interactive whiteboards, smart projectors and similar technology
This is a casual on-call position.
