About the role

Construction Team

The Associate Broker for the Construction practice supports the broking team in servicing a portfolio of construction and infrastructure clients, including general contractors, specialty trades, project owners, and developers. This role contributes to the execution of renewal and marketing processes, policy documentation and client servicing, with a focus on risk solutions tailored to the construction sector. Working closely with Senior Brokers, Client Executives and insurers, the Associate Broker ensures the timely and accurate delivery of program placements, insurance documentation, invoicing, and certificates.

Role Description

Key Accountabilities

Client & Policy Servicing

  • Develop and nurture client and internal stakeholder relationships
  • Assist with the preparation of renewal documents, proposals, summaries of insurance, certificates, binders, invoices and other client deliverables
  • Support onboarding and renewal processes by gathering project / submission details, underwriting information, and financial statements specific to construction accounts. Reviewing submission information for accuracy and preparing submission document to be approved by clients prior to release
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, policy documentation, and project schedules on EPIC
  • Coordinate with internal teams (e.g., Claims, Accounting, Compliance) to ensure seamless service and issue resolution for construction-related matters

Marketing & Placement

  • Prepare marketing submissions for insurers and assist in the placement of coverage under the guidance of a senior broker
  • Assist in negotiation and placement of coverage including project-specific policies such as wrap-up liability, builders’ risk, project pollution, as well as contractor annual policies including (but not limited to) contractor general liability, commercial property, equipment floaters, automobile and contractor pollution liability.
  • Track carrier responses, compile quote comparisons, and support the development of recommendation reports
  • Participate in insurer meetings and internal strategy discussions, contributing construction sector insights

Technical Support & Administration

  • Review and process policy documentation, endorsements, and invoicing with a high degree of accuracy
  • Contribute to benchmarking reports, loss summaries, and coverage analysis specific to construction risks
  • Track and monitor key dates, service deliverables, and project milestones to ensure timely follow-up and execution
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of tools, templates, and best practices for construction accounts to further enhance client experience

Experience Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience in commercial insurance broking, including at least 2 years focused on construction accounts
  • Proven knowledge of construction insurance products, including contractor programs and project specific policies
  • Experience working with contractors, developers and construction project stakeholders (owners or developers)
  • RIBO license
  • CAIB, CIP or CRM designations are assets
  • Experience liaising with insurer and supporting client activities
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive, service-oriented mindset
