Design of various mechanical and piping systems for power generation (particularly hydro), heavy industrial, and mining projects. Develop or provide input into 3D models and 2D drawings; Act as Mechanical Lead on multi-disciplinary projects, at all stages of the project lifecycle (conceptual, pre-feasibility, and feasibility studies, as well as detailed design/implementation); Supervise junior/intermediate engineers and designers in the preparation of design criteria, drawings, data sheets, technical specifications and design calculations; Professional signing/sealing of deliverables; Prepare reports, proposals, budgets, schedules, project plans and other supporting documentation as required; Mentor young engineers as part of their career development program
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical; Minimum of 12 years of experience designing mechanical and piping systems; Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in Manitoba; Demonstrated knowledge of pertinent industry standards, regulations and codes such as ASME, Manitoba Building Code, ASHRAE, and CSA standards; Experience with various hydro station piping systems is preferred, particularly design of service and cooling water systems, plumbing and drainage systems, fire protection systems, oil storage and distribution systems, and compressed air systems. Experience with process piping, slurry piping systems, , steam piping, and natural gas piping is considered an asset. Knowledge of HVAC systems design is considered an asset, particularly in hydro stations and substation buildings, but also in heavy industrial and mining projects; Experience with dust collection systems is considered an asset; Bulk material handling experience is considered an asset; Able to lead mechanical aspect of projects and complete the majority of project work independently, with coordination and resources from other offices. Able to function as a member of a multidisciplinary team and coordinate mechanical activities with other disciplines; Previous supervisory experience; Good planning, organizational and interpersonal skills; Previous project management experience is considered an asset; Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; Experience in the use of procedures and workflows in the execution of projects; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Demonstrated safety leadership; Willingness to travel occasionally to other Hatch offices and project sites.
Base salary range: $115,000 - $165,000 At Hatch, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. In accordance with legislated pay transparency requirements, the expected salary range for this position is based on current market data and aligned with internal pay structures to ensure consistency and fairness. Your individual compensation within this range will depend on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications and location.
