Work Status: Full-Time, Temporary Contract
Location: Ottawa Bureau - Ottawa, ON
About the role:
Global News is currently seeking a full-time, temporary contract for a National News Producer to join their Ottawa Bureau Parliamentary Bureau team on a 6-month contract.
The successful candidate will produce content for Global National News and Global affiliate stations.
This position reports directly to the Ottawa Bureau Manager.
This is a Group 3 position under the current collective agreement.
You will contribute by:

Develop and maintain a network of political contacts

Ability to identify political editorial priorities and communicate them across the network.

Generate original, compelling and diverse daily news story ideas.

Identify and execute enterprise story ideas.
-
Conduct field interviews and shoots on Parliament Hill and the Ottawa area
-
Produce daily national news content with tight timelines.
-
Display creativity in the use of production graphics and other visual elements
-
Coordinate Ottawa Bureau daily news resources.
-
Field produces news items, remote segments and special event coverage.
-
Write news content for all platforms.
-
Perform other duties as required.
-
Hours of Work: Varied, including working evenings and some weekends as required.
Skills and experience you will bring:
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

A post-secondary diploma, certificate or equivalent, in a broadcasting or related field.

A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a news producer.
-
Experience covering federal politics.
-
Ability to identify editorial priorities and communicate them across the network.
-
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
-
Diverse background in national news is considered an asset.
-
Highly organized, self-motivated and creative.
-
French language skills considered an asset.
