Why is this role important?
In this role you will be supporting the Corporate Data Request Program (CDRP), which is responsible for the alignment of data release practices across CIHI and the operations of tooling related to external data release, including CIHI’s Secure Access Environment (SAE). Duties include, but are not limited to vetting of SAE outputs, supporting the development and documentation related to standard operating procedures and assisting with the preparation and validation of data requests. As a co-op student you will be involved in a variety of activities that support priority project for our department, that help drive CIHI’s overall mandate to deliver on better data, better decisions, for healthier Canadians. Specifically, in this role you will help ensure researchers and health system decision makers get timely access to data while meeting privacy and security requirements. This unique opportunity will expose you to areas of process improvement, business operations, client support and health data privacy, security, and policy.
What you'll do
- Review SAE outputs and ensure privacy and security requirements are met
- Communicate with SAE users regarding their outputs
- Use of technical tools such as Python, R and the Eclipse De-identification Tool to prepare and validate data requests
- Assist with coordination, collaboration, communication, monitoring, reporting and documentation activities
- Actively participate in problem-solving and coming up with solutions
- Execute solutions such as those associated with vetting SAE outputs, process improvement documentation and validating data requests.
What you'll bring to the table
- Working towards an undergraduate or a graduate degree in health studies, health informatics, epidemiology, statistics or mathematics that require Co-op as part of the educational requirement
- Proficient with office suite
- Understanding of data and quantitative analysis
- Knowledge of technical tools such as Python, or R is an asset
- Ability to communicate effectively to internal and external stakeholders both verbally and written
- Initiative driven and go-getter attitude
