Housekeeping Supervisor III

Summary JOB SUMMARY:Reporting to the Coordinator, Environmental Services, the Housekeeping Supervisor III supervises over 16 staff by scheduling and coordinating work assignments, participating in assessment of employees, ensuring staff adhere to all relevant standards, policies and procedures, ordering cleaning supplies and equipment, and performing regular housekeeping duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS:EducationGrade 12 plus three years' recent related experience including six months' supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Skills and AbilitiesAbility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to deal with others effectively. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Ability to operate related equipment. Ability to supervise. Ability to organize work. Supervises designated staff in Environmental Services by performing duties such as scheduling and coordinating work assignments, determining orientation and training needs, and observing employees' performance in accordance with established policies and procedures and reporting issues to the Coordinator. Carries out a variety of cyclical and routine inspections of housekeeping and cleaning duties to ensure quality of work and adherence to department standards, policies and procedures, while maintaining related records and reports as well as advising the Coordinator of any issues. Oversees maintenance of housekeeping equipment by ensuring equipment is stored and cleaned correctly and arranges for repair of machinery and equipment, when required. Ensures the maintenance of departmental standards and procedures by monitoring cleaning activities, and reporting observed problems, complaints, hazards, or violations of security to the Coordinator. Instructs staff on established safety procedures and advises staff on proper equipment use. Schedules staff attendance at annual review of established procedural and educational programs. Monitors attendance by ensuring related records are updated. Monitors and maintains housekeeping inventories and controlling stock to pre-established levels. Completes supplies requisitions in accordance with established procedures. Maintains various reports and records such as inspections and inventory records, employee incidents documentation and other relevant records. Makes recommendations to the Coordinator on special cleaning requirements, such as major shutdown cleaning of OR/PAR, decontamination of specific areas, etc. Implements decisions as directed. May assist in providing budget estimates and monitoring budget for assigned area. Performs a variety of cleaning duties as required. Performs other related duties as required.
