About the role

Reporting to the Shift/Production Leader, the Drafting Technician is responsible for the

development, preparation, and quality assurance of floor plan drawings.

The role primarily involves working with Planitar’s proprietary software, Draft, with the expectation of

expanding into additional drafting platforms such as Autodesk Revit and Verisk Xactimate

as required.

All tools fall within the same scope of responsibility for the Drafting Technician, with assignments evolving based on project needs, proficiency, and business priorities. The ideal candidate for this position is a self-motivated individual with expertise using various CAD software’s, experience in a field related to engineering, and a keen eye for detail.

Job Duties:

Drafting & Quality Assurance:

Core Responsibility: Create iGUIDE Floor Plans using Planitar’s proprietary

software, Draft, for Residential, Commercial & Insurance Restoration Clients.

Oversee the quality assurance process for drafting work to ensure accuracy and

compliance with company standards and client requirements.

Address and report issues that may surface during production to the iGUIDE

Drafting Shift Leader.

Participate in cross-functional, continuous improvement initiatives as the

opportunity presents itself.

Ensure that established KPI targets are consistently met by implementing effective

strategies and managing daily operations.

Additional Responsibilities (as assigned):

  • Create ESX Floor Plan Sketches using Verisk’s construction estimating software, Xactimate, Insurance Restoration Claims Clients.
  • Create DWG Floor Plans using Autodesk’s software, Revit, for Architecture, Construction & Engineering Clients.
  • Create RVT Models using Autodesk’s software, Revit, for Architecture, Construction & Engineering Clients.
  • Create Architectural Floor Plan Packages using Autodesk’s software, Revit, for Architecture, Construction & Engineering Clients.
  • Complete other tasks outside of drafting floor plans such as AI annotations, marketing research, information gathering, cases studies, etc.
  • This position may require you to perform additional tasks or responsibilities not explicitly listed in the job description, based on the needs of the organization.
  • Flexibility in supporting a variety of tasks is expected, and compensation will remain consistent with the terms of your employment agreement.

Qualifications:
Education: Obtained or currently working towards a degree or diploma in architectural

engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering or equivalent.

Experience:

  • 1+ years of CAD drafting experience.
  • 1+ years of BIM modeling experience.

Skills:

  • CAD Software Proficiency: Working knowledge of Autodesk’s Revit, and Verisk’s Xactimate.
  • Drafting and Preparation: Ability to develop and prepare detailed floor plan drawings with precision.
  • Quality Assurance: Skills in performing quality assurance checks to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards.
  • Technical Knowledge: Experience in a field related to engineering, providing a solid understanding of drafting principles and practices.
    Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail to produce accurate and high-quality drawings.
  • Self-Motivation: Ability to work independently and stay motivated while managing tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Problem-Solving: Capability to address and resolve any issues related to drafting or software use.
  • Organizational Skills: Proficiency in managing and organizing drafting tasks efficiently.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to work with different CAD software and adapt to varying project requirements.

Schedule:

  • Scheduling Flexibility: This may include shifting work hours by a few hours (e.g., adjusting start/end times) or changing workdays (e.g., switching from a Monday–Friday schedule to a Tuesday–Saturday

schedule).
