What you'll be doing
The Wire & Cable Auditor is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and readiness of all wire and cable orders while managing the availability, condition, and tracking of reels and related equipment. This role supports warehouse efficiency by verifying orders, coordinating reel usage, maintaining tracking logs for customer and vendor reels, and ensuring equipment meets safety and operational standards. The coordinator plays a key role in minimizing errors, reducing downtime, and supporting a smooth fulfillment workflow. This position is based in the Gerrie Distribution Centre in Burlington.
ORDER VERIFICATION & FULFILLMENT SUPPORT
Verify completed orders against picking tickets and cutting instructions for accuracy.
Confirm correct wire type, gauge, color, length, and quantity per customer specifications.
Ensure all product labeling, packaging, and presentation meet company standards.
Identify discrepancies and communicate issues promptly to the cutting team or supervisor.
REEL COORDINATION & INVENTORY MANAGEMENT
Maintain accurate real-time inventory of reels and related equipment in the enterprise resource planning system (ERP) and warehouse management system (WMS).
Coordinate reel assignments for cutting operations and outgoing orders.
Track reel returns and rotations to maximize utilization and minimize shortages.
Assist in the coordination of vendor returnable reels, including tracking, documentation, and ensuring timely return to vendors.
Manage detailed tracking logs for customer-owned reels and vendor-supplied reels, including check-in/check-out status, condition updates, returns, and any applicable charges or credits.
Organize reel storage areas to ensure safety, accessibility, and workflow efficiency.
EQUIPMENT INSPECTION & READINESS
Inspect reels for structural integrity, cleanliness, and safety compliance prior to use.
Identify damaged or unsafe reels and coordinate repair, replacement, or removal from service.
Monitor basic equipment used for reel handling (stands, jacks, lifting devices) and report issues to supervisors or maintenance.
DOCUMENTATION & COMMUNICATION
Accurately record order verification results, reel inspections, and equipment updates in the ERP & WMS.
Maintain reel lifecycle documentation, including usage history and repair or rotation details.
Communicate order issues, reel concerns, and process improvements clearly to supervisors and team members.
PROCESS IMPROVEMENT, TRAINING, & OPERATIONAL SUPPORT
Recommend improvements to cutting accuracy, reel tracking practices, and equipment handling processes.
Assist in training staff on proper reel handling, storage, and safety procedures.
Assist the cutting warehouse team as required to support workflow and operational demands.
HEALTH, SAFETY & COMPLIANCE
Follow all safety policies when handling wire, cable, reels, and equipment.
Maintain compliance with company standards and warehouse safety requirements.
Promote safe work practices in all daily activities.
TEAMWORK AND COLLABORATION
Create and maintain a team atmosphere and ensure employee concerns are resolved promptly.
QUALITY
Understand and adhere to ISO policies and procedures.
What you bring to the table
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to read and interpret pick tickets, cutting instructions, and product specifications.
Familiarity with wire and cable products, reels, and warehouse operations (preferred).
Experience using WMS or similar inventory systems.
Basic mechanical aptitude for equipment inspection and troubleshooting.
Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; JDE (Oracle) experience an asset.
