THL Gourmet Foods Inc. is one of the leading importers and distributors of Asian food products from the Pacific Rim and other regions of the world. We are looking for a candidate for the position of Food Service – Sales Director to lead the Food Service team.
Position Summary:
We are seeking an accomplished and results-driven Food Service – Sales Director to lead our national food service strategy. Reporting to the Senior National Director – Sales, this role is accountable for driving revenue growth, expanding distribution channels, and strengthening our presence in national and regional markets.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping sales strategy, building and mentoring high-performing teams, and cultivating long-term partnerships with key clients and distributors.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Define and execute the national sales strategy for the food service sector, including restaurants, distributors, hotels, and institutional accounts.
- Identify and capitalize on growth opportunities to expand market share and increase revenue.
- Establish annual sales targets, budgets, and KPIs aligned with company objectives.
Development & Account Management
- Build and strengthen relationships with key distributors, chains, and institutional clients.
- Lead pricing negotiations, contract agreements, and promotional programs with major accounts.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to adapt strategies proactively.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, coach, and mentor regional sales managers and representatives to achieve peak performance.
- Foster a high-performance, customer-focused sales culture.
- Implement effective performance management, development, and incentive programs.
Financial & Reporting
- Monitor and report on sales performance against targets, providing insights to executive leadership.
- Manage trade spend, pricing strategies, and profitability analysis.
- Deliver accurate forecasts and contribute to long-term business planning.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales/Marketing, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive sales experience, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role within food service.
- Proven track record of driving revenue growth, expanding market share, and leading national or multi-regional sales teams.
- Deep knowledge of the food service sector — particularly Japanese and Korean cuisine markets — with strong distributor and institutional client expertise.
- Advanced negotiation and contract management skills with major accounts.
- Strong P&L management experience with the ability to analyze performance and optimize profitability.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at the executive level.
- Proficiency with CRM platforms, sales analytics tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.

- Insight into menu development, culinary trends, and food service operations to support customer engagement and innovation.
- Multilingual skills to strengthen relationships and enhance market reach across diverse client bases.
