Dispatcher / Dispatch Coordinator – Trucking Operations South West Bulk Express Inc. Calgary, AB Full-time | Day, Evening, and Weekend Shifts Available Starting wage: $19–$25/hr depending on experience and ability South West Bulk Express Inc. is a growing bulk trucking company operating across Western Canada and the Northern United States. We run a busy 7-day operation and are looking to add reliable, motivated dispatch staff to our Calgary office. This is not just a phone-answering role. We are building a structured dispatch department with clear training levels, wage growth, and advancement opportunities into load planning and senior dispatch roles. We are looking for someone who can start by helping with driver calls, customer emails, order updates, and daily dispatch coordination, with the opportunity to grow into planning trucks, managing driver flow, and helping run the daily operation. What You’ll Do Answer driver calls and provide clear direction based on the dispatch plan Monitor customer emails and respond professionally Enter and update orders in our dispatch system Track trucks, loads, delivery status, and delays Communicate with drivers throughout the day Follow up on missing paperwork, BOLs, and load information Help prepare next-day dispatch plans Update customers with ETAs and delay information Work with dispatchers, planners, drivers, and management to keep freight moving Escalate issues properly with full information and suggested solutions What We’re Looking For Strong communication skills Good attention to detail Ability to stay calm in a busy environment Willingness to learn trucking dispatch and load planning Comfortable using computers, email, and dispatch software Reliable attendance and punctuality Ability to work independently once trained Strong problem-solving attitude Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends if required Experience Trucking, logistics, dispatch, customer service, or transportation experience is an asset, but we are willing to train the right person. Experience with any of the following is helpful: Truck dispatch Driver coordination Load planning Customer service Order entry Bulk trucking, cement, pneumatic trailers, hopper trailers, or flat deck operations Working in a fast-paced office environment Growth Opportunity South West Bulk is building a dispatch career path with clear levels: Level 1 – Dispatch Coordinator: order entry, driver calls, emails, tracking, and dispatch support Level 2 – Dispatcher: dispatching drivers, handling simple lanes, customer updates, and assisting with planning Level 3 – Planner: planning trucks, managing a region or customer group, solving issues, and helping train junior staff Wage increases and advancement are based on demonstrated ability, accuracy, communication, independence, and willingness to take ownership. Schedule We operate 7 days per week. Available schedules may include: Monday to Friday day shift Afternoon/evening shift Weekend shift Rotating schedule Sunday to Thursday or Tuesday to Saturday schedule Applicants must be open to working some evenings and/or weekends, as our operation runs every day. Pay Starting wage depends on experience and demonstrated ability. Interview Process Our hiring process may include a paid working interview or test shift for shortlisted candidates. The first interview will be a standard interview to review experience, communication skills, availability, and fit for the role. Candidates who move forward may be invited back for a paid dispatch working interview/test shift. This gives candidates a chance to see the dispatch environment and gives us a chance to assess communication, attention to detail, computer skills, note-taking, problem-solving, and ability to work in a busy trucking operation. During the paid working interview, candidates may be asked to observe dispatch, complete basic dispatch-related tasks, review sample scenarios, draft customer updates, and show how they would organize information and handle driver/customer communication. Candidates selected for a working interview will be paid for their time. Ideal Candidate The ideal person for this role does not just wait to be told what to do. We are looking for someone who wants to learn, ask good questions, take notes, solve problems, and grow into a stronger dispatch role over time.
