Job Details

The City of St. Albert is recruiting an individual to join our Public Operations department as a Carpenter.

Under the supervision of the Facility Services Team Lead, the Carpenter performs various duties in all areas of carpentry maintenance and repair, as well as alteration and installation of building systems, in compliance with corporate and provincially legislated Occupational Health and Safety regulations, policies and codes of practice and the City of St Albert Environmental Management System.

The individual we seek has strong interpersonal, planning, writing, and organizational skills.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma with a minimum of 5 years of carpentry maintenance experience. This includes experience with door and door hardware maintenance, inspection, and repair; inspection and repair of playground equipment; and general facility maintenance such as outdoor rink repairs and rebuilding, drywall patching, painting, and flooring repairs.
  • Journeyperson Carpentry certificate recognized by the Province of Alberta.
  • Current Intermediate (Standard) First Aid certification.
  • Excellent trouble shooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

Hours of Work

  • Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with an unpaid 30-minute lunch break.
  • Participation in the standby roster will be required.

Compensation

  • The wage is $42.31 per hour, including a comprehensive benefits package annum, including a comprehensive benefits package with a Flexible Spending Account and Pension Plan.
