About the role
Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Holland Orthopaedic & Arthritic Centre, is seeking one dedicated and motivated Pharmacy Student enrolled in the University of Toronto International Pharmacy Graduate (IPG) Program to join our team as a Clinical Assistant to the Pharmacists.
Position Summary:
The successful candidate will work closely under the direct supervision of a clinical pharmacist preceptor to support the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical care to our orthopedic surgery patients. This temporary full-time position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a collaborative, patient-centered environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct Best Possible Medication Histories (BPMH) for orthopedic surgery patients.

Perform patient medication reviews to ensure safe and effective pharmacotherapy.

Identify drug therapy problems and contribute to resolving medication-related issues under supervision.

Develop and implement pharmaceutical care plans under the full supervision and guidance of a clinical pharmacist.

Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes.

Attend daily interdisciplinary rounds.

Provide discharge medication counseling
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in the University of Toronto International Pharmacy Graduate (IPG) Program.
- Strong interest in hospital pharmacy practice.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills including strong English proficiency.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient safety and quality improvement.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Experience working in hospital pharmacy preferred.
- Experience working in Canadian community pharmacy – an asset.
