Position Summary
The position provides operational and administrative support for indoor campus recreation programming and fitness centre operations, while assisting the Campus Recreation Coordinator in the day-to-day delivery of services. The incumbent contributes to the implementation of recreation programs, facility operations, and student staff support within established procedures and guidelines.

The role supports indoor recreation spaces, including fitness centres and gymnasiums, by assisting with scheduling, program delivery, participant services, and maintaining safe and inclusive environments. The incumbent also provides front-line service to students and supports administrative processes related to programming, registration, and facility use.
The work requires knowledge of departmental policies and procedures, strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a student-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the implementation and delivery of campus recreation programs, including intramurals, leagues, and events, ensuring activities run according to established schedules and procedures

  • Supports program registration processes and maintains accurate participant records using MyCard and other systems

  • Assists in preparing schedules for recreation programming and facility use, based on direction from the Coordinators

  • Provides front-line support during programs and events, addressing participant inquiries and escalating issues as required

  • Assists in promoting programs and services through approved communication channels (e.g., social media, posters, outreach activities)

  • Assists with the day-to-day operation of indoor recreation facilities, including fitness centres and gymnasiums

  • Supports routine inspection and maintenance of fitness equipment by identifying issues and reporting them to the Coordinators

  • Assists in ensuring facilities are clean, organized, and meet safety and operational standards

  • Assists with onboarding and training of student staff by demonstrating procedures and explaining facility operations and expectations

  • Provides day-to-day guidance to student staff during shifts, ensuring tasks are completed according to established procedures

  • Assists in preparing and adjusting staff schedules based on direction from the Coordinators

Qualifications/Experience

  • Degree or diploma in Sport Management / Administration, Recreation and Leisure or a related discipline

  • Two (2) years of experience supporting or assisting facility operations in a recreation, athletics, health, education, hospitality, or similar environment.

  • Experience providing front-line customer service and responding to a high volume of inquiries in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to provide clear information and interact effectively with diverse user groups

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, as well as interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to provide excellence customer service

  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, resourceful, and take initiative within established procedures

  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, and other stakeholders

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to support multiple tasks and shifting priorities
