Course Description:

Introduction to the teaching of one of many disciplines at the intermediate and senior divisions. Impact of the particular discipline on the whole learner; individualized instruction; theoretical framework and pedagogical implications; critical examination and interpretation of relevant curriculum guidelines. Development of programs; analysis and application of specific teaching strategies and techniques unique to the discipline. Evaluation procedures and techniques.

HYBRID COURSE

In Teacher Education, Hybrid means that all courses include ten in-person sessions offered on campus at the University of Ottawa (30 in-person instructional hours) and two online course modules, delivered through Brightspace, which provide the equivalent of 6 instructional hours.

These rates do not included vacation pay nor statutory pay.

These rates will be applied until a new collective agreement is ratified. Retro will be paid after the ratification.

Requirements:

Required qualifications:

  • Masters degree in education required; PhD degree in Education will be given preference.

  • Qualification to teach in Ontario schools (OCT certification) at the Intermediate/Senior levels and/or research-based work focused on the subject of the course.

  • Recent experience in teaching in a school or working in administration of a school board at the Intermediate-Senior level, with specialist qualification in Instrumental Music.

  • Knowledge of the current Ontario Curriculum and of the Ethical Standards and Standards of Practice of the Ontario College of Teachers.

The University may consider experience or qualifications equivalent to those set out above.
