Reporting to the Director, Iqaluit Community Services, Iqaluit Health Services, the Nurse Manager, Iqaluit Home and Community Care provides program oversight and expertise, and will coordinate the planning, development, and implementation and evaluation of service delivery for all Iqaluit Home and Community Care (IHCC) programs. This will involve coordination of expertise, client care and clinical practice across Iqaluit Health Services (IHS), within the Department of Health, and in collaboration with external stakeholders as required, and will emphasize community development and deepening of community capacity.
Additional Key Responsibilities Include
- Managing the Home and Community Care program and administrative operations;
- Providing professional and clinical supervision;
- Leading and supporting the development of the home and community care team; and
- Overseeing the operations and financial management of the Iqaluit Home and Community Care team.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a Bachelor or Diploma in Nursing, plus five years relevant experience as a Registered Nurse with three years pf related leadership experience. Candidates must be eligible to register with CANNN.
Assets for this position include: A Master’s degree in Nursing; specialized training in wound care, diabetes care, palliative care, oncology, specialized foot care.
This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. The ability to communicate in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.

For full-time, permanent nurses, recruitment bonuses include: $5,000 on start date, $5,000 at 18 months of service and $10,000 at 30 months of service. Additional premiums include a $9,000 Annual Frontline Allowance and a $375 Monthly Retention Bonus of $4,500 per year.
