Beyond The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, Stampede Park hosts more than 1,200 business, tourism, sporting, hospitality, and community events every year, welcoming more than two million guests from every corner of the world. The $500M BMO Centre expansion will be a catalyst to transform the city into a tier one convention city and provide state-of-the-art facilities for our community and guests from around the world.
Position Summary
The Banquet and Fine Dining Servers, are important members of the Food and Beverage team responsible for personally creating positive encounters with our guests by delivering consistent, memorable, world class experiences. Professionally serving food and beverage in a variety of venues throughout Stampede Park while adhering to all service standards and promoting our Western Hospitality and Values. The expectation is to go above and beyond to ensure all our guests feel especially welcome and valued.
These positions are casual-part-time positions that will require the successful candidates to work flexible hours throughout the week and on weekends.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Work within a team to provide professional, enthusiastic and efficient service, completing a quality check in your section to ensure guest satisfaction and quietly clearing all items from dining tables
- Set up and tear down of items used on buffet tables, coffee stations, Food Fairs and service clearing stations to department standards in a timely manner
- Knowledgeable of menu being served and ability to accommodate all special requests including allergies and dietary needs
- Service of table wine as well as cash wine sales when applicable. Provide responsible beverage service at all times
- Perform alcohol related duties including bartending, inventory management, use of cash register and cash handling
- Resolve guest or employee concerns within scope of authority, or refers to management
- Maintain a clean and organized front and back of house ensuring guests and co-workers are safe
- Perform other duties as requested by guests or management
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be proactive, optimistic and have worked in a dynamic environment where they have experience delivering on multiple priorities and will hold the following qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years catering, banquet or restaurant experience as a server
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and confidently in groups and one on one conversations
- A passion for consistently delivering exceptional service
- Must be available to work early mornings, evenings and/or daytime shifts.
- A desire to exceed both requested and anticipated guest and co-worker expectations
- Must be highly organized
- Highly responsible for their actions, reliable and able to work with limited direction
- Must be able to lift, carry and balance heavy oval trays a distance of 30 m
- Must have certification in ProServe Liquor Training, or be able to complete training online within 21 days of date of hire
- High school or equivalent education
- 18 years of age or older
