Location
This position is eligible for a hybrid work model. When attending an event or meeting in person, your primary office location will be based out of City Hall. Work location is subject to change at the discretion of the City due to operational demands. Effective January 2026 this role will be required to be on site 50% of the time each month.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Director, Digital Platform, Architecture & Cyber Security, this position is responsible for the development and delivery of a comprehensive information security program for the City. Provide vision and leadership for developing and supporting corporate information security initiatives. Oversee the planning, implementation, and auditing of enterprise IT system defences against security breaches and vulnerability issues.
Responsibilities
The Manager, Information Security is responsible for:
- Leading electronic information security planning by prioritizing defence initiatives.
- Coordinating the evaluation, deployment and management of current and future security technologies using a risk-based assessment methodology.
- Acting on behalf of the City on I&IT/Cyber Security related issues.
- Developing and communicating security strategies and plans to Senior Leadership, IT Governance Committee, Audit Committee, Committees of Council, staff, partners, internal customers, and other stakeholders.
- Leading procurement and project initiatives to ensure security controls.
- Authorizing, directing, and overseeing section and BDS staff in the implementation of operational controls and ensure compliance through monitoring and auditing.
- Liaising with external security vendors to stay informed of new technologies.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a College Diploma in Computer Engineering, Network and System Administration, or a related field. Certification of Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) is required. Candidates must also have a minimum of five years of experience in information security, including at least three years in a supervisory or leadership role.

This position requires the successful candidate to provide a clear criminal record check at their own expense.
