We are seeking Casual Guest Teachers to support students and teachers who have expertise in teaching S****enior High Humanities. This role involves providing additional classroom assistance or covering teacher absences as needed. It’s an excellent opportunity for new teachers eager to gain experience, for those seeking flexibility, or for individuals exploring whether Calgary Academy is the right community for the next step in their career.

  • Flexible Commitment: No minimum shift requirement—you pick up shifts when it works for you because we want you to be here because you feel aligned with the community.
  • Future Opportunities: Our substitute list is a key pipeline for identifying candidates for full-time teaching positions as they become available.
  • User-Friendly System: Our app-based system notifies you of available shifts for ease and convenience.
  • Full Day Rate: $300

Qualifications

  • A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate or Interim Alberta Teaching Certificate.
  • A current Criminal Record Check, inclusive of the Vulnerable Sector, with a positive outcome.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships and create safe, positive, and productive learning environments.
  • A strong work ethic, professionalism, and agility in teaching practice.
  • A passion for continuous professional learning, collaboration, and self-reflection.
  • Enthusiasm and persistence in engaging students, assessing progress, and supporting their wellness.
  • Compassion and patience, with an unwavering commitment to meeting the diverse needs of students and families.
  • Knowledge and passion for creating authentic, personalized learning experiences, including direct instruction, flexible learning, and integrative approaches.
