Payroll Officer
Reporting to the Manager of Accounting and Payroll, and with a focus on service excellence, this position is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly payrolls. The role includes responding to internal and external inquiries and assisting with the preparation and filing of all payroll-related repots.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Administer bi-weekly payrolls in accordance with current collective agreements, legislation and benefit carrier regulations
- calculate and compile payroll data from time sheets and other records
- prepare, enter, and ensure accuracy of data input to U4-Integrated HR Payroll System
- prepare employee payments via EFT and verify accuracy of pay and deductions and ensure timely remittances
- audit and adjust absence data, overtime, stat, shift differentials and benefit entitlements
- prepare and verify accuracy of statements of earnings for employees
- analyze payroll data to identify trends and potential issues
- collaborate with HR, employees, supervisors and finance teams to ensure accurate data inputs into integrated HR/Payroll system
- Respond to payroll inquiries and requests for assistance from staff, students, external agencies and the general public
- provide information to government and pension agencies
- provide guidance and assistance in payroll system processes for employees and supervisors
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Strong computer skills including Word and Excel
- Strong working knowledge of integrated HR/Payroll systems, payroll regulations, taxation, and compliance requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address issues and errors
- Proficient with data base applications and familiar with extracting data in report form in at least one type of data base
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work in a multi-tasking environment and meet deadlines with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
Education and Experience
- 2 years of post secondary education in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field
- Actively working towards Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) Certification through the National Payroll Institute
- Preference will be give to candidates who have already obtained their PCP Certification
- Minimum 3-4 years payroll experience
This is a regular, full-time (100%) position, commencing approximately September 15, 2025**. Salary will be Pay Grade 10, $36.04 per hour in accordance with the PPWC Collective Agreement.**
