The Kitchener-Waterloo Library of Things (KWLOT) is a project created through Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region, and we have created a space for sharing items ranging from tools to camping and kitchen equipment. By sharing items, Library members save money, reduce waste, discover a strong community and provide inclusive and supported employment opportunities.

##Role:
If you are a person with lived experience of disability who has been negatively impacted in the job market and wants to work for an organization that sees your disability as a strength, read on! We are looking for someone who enjoys storytelling with a marketing lens, collaborating with team members, sharing experiences with the community, and creating positive environmental impacts through reducing waste.
The KWLOT Marketing Associate will collaboratively lead the implementation of marketing and storytelling for KWLOT alongside the KWLOT Impact and Growth Coordinator, as we expand into new service offerings and grow our membership. KWLOT is an employment social enterprise of Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region (EAFWR) and the successful candidate will be a person with lived experience of disability.
This position is responsible for communicating the story of KWLOT to the public with intention and creativity. As part of our skills building program, this role will focus on supporting you to build and expand your skills related to social media marketing through content design, content creation, and storytelling as well as additional marketing activities like newsletter design, communications, graphic design, and event marketing.
This position is made possible through the Ontario Trillium Foundation Grow Grant.
##Qualifications:
- Lived experience of disability
- Excellent storytelling and communication skills
- Two years demonstrated experience in social media or marketing (this could include personal projects, volunteer work, or professional roles)
- Experience with content creation for Instagram and Facebook, including creating reels, writing captions, designing posts, and scheduling content
- Experience with Canva or similar design software
- Experience with designing branded materials like flyers, one-pagers, and brochures
- Experience with recording video, capturing content, and photography (through phone or professional equipment)
- Brings collaboration, flexibility, clear communication, and a positive attitude to teamwork
- Comfortable working on a computer or tablet
##Bonus Qualifications:
- Post-Secondary certification in the following fields: Marketing, Communications, Videography, Photography, Creative Writing, Graphic Design, Art, or Advertising
- Experience with content editing tools (examples could include: Adobe Suite, CapCut, Edits, etc.)
- Familiarity with editing websites: Squarespace experience is a plus
- Experience with newsletter creation: Mailchimp expertise is a plus
- Familiarity and participation with local initiatives that support a circular economy and DIY culture in Waterloo Region
- Comfortable representing KWLOT and speaking with community members at events
- Access to transportation to and from local events

##Hours and Pay:
- Part-time: Up to ten (10) hours per week
- Starting Salary: $17.74-$18.82/hour + 6% in lieu of vacation time
- This is a two (2) year contract, ending May 2028, based on our grant, with a goal of renewal beyond the grant period
- This is a hybrid position, with some work that must be completed onsite at the EAFWR office (91 Moore Avenue in Kitchener)
##Responsibilities and Functions:
Reporting to the KWLOT Impact and Growth Coordinator, the KWLOT Marketing Associate will:
Content Creation and Social Media Marketing:
- Content development: creating ideas that align with objectives and strategy set by the organization that help drive membership growth
- Content design: designing content with a creative storytelling approach
- Content implementation: recording video and audio, photography for various social media platforms including Instagram and Facebook
- Working creatively and collaboratively with the KWLOT team, EAFWR team, and like-minded organizations
Communications:
- Manage the marketing email inbox
- Write, design, and send ongoing newsletters to our 2k subscriber email list (2x per month)
- Manage and respond to DMs through Instagram and Facebook (routinely)
Event Marketing:
- Assist KWLOT team as necessary with marketing for events (This includes activities like designing flyers, developing creative calls-to-actions, and attending events to promote KWLOT, etc.)
- Working collaboratively with the team on event ideas
Provide Support to KWLOT and EAFWR Administration by:
- Maintain awareness of and adherence to relevant guidelines, policies and procedures
- Promote the growth of an organizational culture that is both inclusive and anti-oppressive
- Participate in training and staff development as requested/required
- Provide documents relevant to the position as requested by EAFWR
- Other duties as required
